I am a full-time Potter living & creating functional pottery in Erie Pennsylvania. My pots are wheel-thrown in my home studio and decorated using slips, glazes, and underglazes.
I use an iron rich clay body that gives my work a rustic flair. This rich, espresso brown clay tends to bleed through the layers of colorful underglaze providing depth to my design. Once the underglaze is applied and the pot is still in the leather hard stage I incise and handstamp patterns onto the surface. My approach to decorating these pots produces a clean and modern design. Combining multiple techniques creates visual as well as textural contrast ultimately infusing these pots with a sense of playfulness.
